The world is not good enough

I had heard some of the buzz about World Can't Wait and their upcoming anti-Bush protest.

I'd heard that they have all kinds of cool people associated with them, like the inimitable Gore Vidal.

But then I heard they've got this disempowering bullshit on their agenda: "10 Reasons NOT to Put Your Hopes and Money into the Democrats."

Fuck 'em. Vote Democrat while you still can.

Don't divert your money to these narcissistic assholes, which would only help guarantee two more years of packing the Supreme Court and the laws of the land with all that is inhumane.

What will our country look like at the end of two more years of Rethug hegemony? Apparently, they think the world can wait to find out.

I guess they're so much more politically correct than thou that it doesn't matter to them.

Does it matter to you?

And who the hell are they, anyway? All sorts of rumors abound.

I've been saying that not voting dem is certain death to whatever is left of our rights in this country. I WILL be out in the streets for this protest, because it's important to be seen and heard in dissent of this administration! But we MUST vote dem to get these so called leaders out and I'll continue to speak that until it is done.

i had already been a tad wary of getting involved with this group, however, more than anyone else, they are organizing the protests. WHERE are the DEM protests?

for now, i'll go with this very large and organized group. personally, i agree with them on the dems to an extent, however, i think at this point, the only way to get us back on track, albeit imperfect IS to vote dem. anyone who utilizes critical thinking knows that.

good post.

one more thing- when i think of the dems who voted in favor of the torture act, and those who did not attempt to block it or speak more vehemently against it, i am almost inclined to believe that this group is onto something.

I kind of liked their idea until I heard the ad they were running on AAR, trashing the democrats. That's when I said, fuck 'em.

World Can't Wait and Not In Our Name are, I believe, both affiliated with the Revolutionary Communist Party, a fringe group.

I'm not going to their demonstration. I'm tired of demonstrations anyway.

As for Democrats organizing demonstrations--there was Camp Democracy.

But the purpose of a political party is to run candidates for election. The problem with the Democratic Party is the candidates, who are often just wimps and half-wits. The Democratic Party needs to recruit better candidates, not hold demonstrations.

I voted for Bush in 2000 because I believed he would reduce US involvement abroad (as he said he would) and because I can't stand Democratic demagoguery and pandering. I voted for John Kerry in 2004 because, although I profoundly could not stand the man, Bush et al. had by Nov. done more than enough to warrant being tried as war criminals. I will vote for the Democrats in Nov. 2006, although I have little hope that they will improve matters, because I think that one must restore the POSSIBILITY of change in all three branches.
