Did Obama just say that attacking Iran is America's default course?
From the Greatest State of the Union Speech Ever:
Is not the direct implication of "a peaceful resolution... is still possible" that we're currently on track for a non-peaceful resolution?
Look at Iran. Through the power of our diplomacy, a world that was once divided about how to deal with Iran’s nuclear program now stands as one. The regime is more isolated than ever before; its leaders are faced with crippling sanctions, and as long as they shirk their responsibilities, this pressure will not relent.
Let there be no doubt: America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal. (Applause.)
But a peaceful resolution of this issue is still possible, and far better, and if Iran changes course and meets its obligations, it can rejoin the community of nations.
Is not the direct implication of "a peaceful resolution... is still possible" that we're currently on track for a non-peaceful resolution?
Obama proves Arthur Silber's point on the irrelevancy of military intelligence... by threatening war on Iran and spearheading punishing sanctions on the Iranian people without even bothering to sex up the intelligence reports to claim that Iran seeks or is developing nuclear weapons.
Note also that the Man of Peace sees no need to explain why the existence of an Iranian nuke program would entitle us to starve and militarily murder Iranians. Given the pliability of the American media and public on such matters, why would he?

Obama borrowed that passage from Netanayhu's Twitter account.
