Dayen was being facetious, "right" according to the standard Dem advice on how the public should "hold their feet to the fire", "have Obama's back" etc which clearly did not get the kind of response from the Dem leadership that they had been led to expect.
Dayen's thesis across his two skin-deep postmorta is that progs did a great job advocating for "public option," and the failure for Dems to reciprocate is a watershed.
Here he is at this late date bemoaning the failure of the emperor to put on a particular make-believe outfit.
