I'm amazed at how many people think the Democratic Party is a party of the left just because the institutional party of the right says this is so.
Why would anyone who thinks of himself as of the left believe anything the right says?
You say both parties are equally bad, but somehow you never seem to be able to post anything factual about the Republicans that casts them in a bad light.
Whether you mean to or not, you are throwing many people into the "gentle, loving" arms of the Republican Party.
Or maybe you think Romney is okay and you look forward to his presidency because you believe that will "show" Obama a thing or two!
Dear slandering sack of shit that I've repeatedly asked to stop commenting here:
1. This site started over 6 years ago as a Bush-bashing blog. The GOP sucked then, and it sucks still, because it stands for a horrible, inhumane, conservative agenda.
2. My readership is primarily those who have come to see that the Democrats suck because they, too, have a horrible, inhumane, conservative agenda.
3. Only in your lying and/or deluded mind is this a site that considers the heinous GOP as anything like gentle or loving.
Yes Vastleft, the topic of how bad Romney is, is vastly under-reported. The only people talking about it are everyone on Obama's $1 billion campaign payroll, every Democrat operative on every political cable show, every website run by a tribal Democrat, and the ubiquitous hordes sheep-like Obots. Vastleft, it's clear you should relinquish your blog's distinctive voice and message, and instead focus on reprinting the Obama campaign's talking points.
It's great that discussions are starting up here; but damn, can we please get better trolls than Anonymous?

I miss all the the Democratic critiques of Republican policies that disappeared when Obama started carrying that water.

Scott Brown, Massachusetts' Republican senator, claims he has had "secret meetings" with royal figures. Brown claimed that "Each and every day that I've been a United States senator, I've been discussing issues, meeting on issues, in secret meetings with kings and queens and prime ministers and business leaders and military leaders, talking, voting, working on issues every single day."
Geez, which "kings and queens" has Scott been having these "secret meetings" with?
Oh, his campaign said Scott "misspoke."
Well, if he "misspoke," he has "misspoken" more than once and repeated that same assertion more than once.

I think we can assume that most people discussing here know the nature of the evil residing in the Republican Party.
I don't think anyone here will argue that good things will come from Republican rule. Even children who were 10 years old when Bush took office should have picked up on the disasters that have come to America under Republican rule. We don't need reminding. That would be redundant. There is almost nothing new to say about this. This is the fact of life we live and die with.
The discussion everywhere should be on how to resist that evil, not how to make friends with it. When The D's forgive every unlawful incursion—past, present and future—and thereby demonstrate their spinelessness, and then do the same things the R's do, that is noteworthy and deserving of examination.
Suppression of that examination does those that are any degree to the left of the Republican Party no good.
Democrats joining in with the Republican Party to quash dissent are despicable. Democrats should be joining in with the opposition to Republican rule instead of acting like blue dog curs, licking their boots.

Dear lord both sides are corrupt, the government over the years have had the attitude of "oh well what are the people going to do." The gov has turned into a pack of wolves full of greed. If you think they care about you, you are a fool. Obama is passing out hard working people's money for votes if that's not greed I don't know what is. Romney greedy as hell too...yet these are the two jerk offs we have to choose from. This is not America!

The more cynical explanation is that the Democrats provide a laundering service for people who stand to reap the spoils of a heinous right-wing policy regime but don't want their personal reputations tarnished by their association with it.
