Paul Ryan Bingo for "Progressives," Update #1

It's game-on, as Democrats circle the tribal wagons to vilify the GOP VP candidate over trivia and such, as a distraction from how horribly conservative their own ticket is.
The first chips are in:
* A mini-meme links Paul Ryan's widow's peak to Butch Patrick's Eddie Munster character. That's a two-fer, landing bingo chips on E1 and A4.
* Ryan's attacks on Social Security and Medicare are the immediate focus of Dem criticism of Ryan… just days after President Obama was cited in the New York Times wishing the media gave him credit for his readiness to enact cuts to those very programs. This nets C4.

In all fairness, reading the Times article, the Social Security/Medicare citation is from an administration official, not Obama, and it is from almost three years ago. It is unlikely they hold the same position today, because it was part of the "we're willing to give up things that are important to us if you'll give up things that are important to you" theme which has since been abandonded.
I don't think so. Obama has been calling for "reforms" because Social Security is in "crisis" since before he became President; before he was even the Democratic nominee.

I would say you're misreading the NYT piece, Jayhawk--a present-tense paraphrase of POTUS's annoyance at not getting "austerity" cred--along with Obama's continued legitimization of "entitlements" cuts, from before the election (as TPR notes), followed by unilateral creation of Simpson-Bowles, payroll tax deductions, etc.
Point to VL.
Continue play.
